Mabel Opening Gifts

My sweet girl came over and kissed me after each gift she opened. (You'll see her do this between gifts.) This video is gifts #2 and #3.

Now, here's what happened to gift #1 - a stuffed toy:

Audio translation:
00:02: We have a sure fire sign she liked her toy because she's trying to hide it!
01:22: We're doing the "sniff" test to see if it's too close to the surface. (Mabel turns.)
01:26: Yes! Mommy's watching.
02:12: Miss Belle, Show 'em your nose! Show 'em your nose. Mabel! Show 'em your nose. Yes, that would be the evidence right there.

This was so entertaining, I'm smiling! Mabel is very dainty at opening gifts-Spot rips 'em open and spits paper every which way.

I hope Mabel remembers where she buried that toy! Spot does that for special bone treats if I let him outside with them. He'll dig them up and move them several times over the course of days and weeks, then forget about them and I find them when I run the lawn mower.

Can she wrap as neatly as she unwraps? That's impressive!

Janet, I play the role of the "other" dog... I'll go dig it up just to irritate her!

Third Cat- If only! LOL.

Wow. How did you get her to hide her loot? All I ever get is a slobbery toy in my lap. Molly and Tess suck at hiding...they prefer to show.

Adam, It's just what she does when she really likes a toy. No teaching involved.

I wish she were more like Molly & Tess. It's kind of disheartening to buy a toy and see it buried so quickly!

Great videos, Holly! It's obvious Miss Mabel really appreciated her Christmas gifts -- and the giver.

I never wrap my dogs' presents. My mother's little poodle used to unwrap *all* the presents under the tree, so I was afraid to let Butch and Kadi think it was OK to do that. Now that I've seen how careful Mabel is and how much she seems to enjoy the process, I feel like a bad mom.

Velvet, That's the oddest things about the dogs I'm "related" to... they LOVE to open gifts but they NEVER bother any under the tree! All have always waited until they are handed their gift! My mom laughs that they are better behaved than the humans!

Happy New Year, Holly. You and I should feel fit as fiddles soon into 2008. I'm about to start working on your pattern, soon as I feel able to concentrate again.

so, did you dig it up yet? ;-)

Happy New Year!

Oh Annie, I had hoped to blog about that pattern already... I kept forgetting to make the focal. But I made one so maybe I'll finish it if my cold behaves!

Janet, Not yet... our rains aren't due for a few more days...

Happy New Year everyone!

Happy New Year to you and Mabel!

Thanks Velvet! Happy New Year to You, Butch and Kadi too!

Holly, may you and Mabel have a wonderful new year filled with many good surprises!

Our Ripley "gets" the idea of gifts, too ... and we always have one or two wrapped for her - she never goes after the other ones as she knows she'll get her own. I think that dogs are smarter than we sometimes give them credit for

Karen, Thanks so much!
