Shaken but Fine

You'll probably be hearing about our earthquake. It was 5.8 near Chino Hills. (12:05 noon update: Downgraded to 5.6.)

It sort of freaked me out as I was on the torch and in true beadmaker fashion, I was initally more worried about my bead than my safety. I quickly tossed it in the kiln and killed the propane.

Mabel went running toward the house. I ran out in the driveway, realized I was too near a brick wall and opted for more middle ground. Mabel is still searching for whatever did that to her house.

I always call my mom first and tell her I am alive. The news makes things sound so much worse. I'm glad I did because with everyone in the greater LA area is making phone calls, I have no dial tone at all now.

But other than shaken nerves and no phone, we are fine.

I was wondering about you, I just saw the news. Glad you and Mabel are fine! are there aftershocks?

Well, geez! I hadn't heard a thing about this earthquake until I read it right here. I imagine it would be kind of spooky for the world to start shaking while you're playing with fire. That could be dangerous.

Glad you're okay.

is Mabel used to it or does she always freak out?

This is Mabel's first quake. I was shocked she wouldn't come to me.

Maggie would always go sniff the foundation of the house all the way around the back yard...every freaking inch!

Mabel did something similar.

Interestingly, she showed no signs before it happened as many animals do. So much for an early warning system!

Maybe next time Mabel will tell you. But then, you might not know what she was trying to warn you about, right? I know I wouldn't know what Spot wanted to tell me.

I don't know Janet. Mabel and I are very in tune. My friends are all amazed at the way she communicates. I know her snake alert so maybe, she will tell me.

Oh my gosh, I'm so glad you and Mabel are okay. I did not realize that you lived in that area. Breathing sighs of relief. Keep safe and away from walls ! Kiss kiss on Mabel's nose.
