There was a strange glowing orb in the sky this morning... something we haven't seen here in EIGHT days! Miss Loubel May was scratching around on the porch wanting to work on her glorious tan as she is so apt to do in the morning but the fall sun would not cooperate and shine on her softy rug.
I got busy and swept off the new sunny spot and shook out her rug and carefully placed it where the morning sun would accommodate her needs.
The princess was happy indeed!

Such a sweet girl!
Sweet girl and sweet Mom! Our Phantom loves the sun too.

Oh, my god, I didn't know black dogs tanned. Do they call it a tan, or do they just say they've gotten darker?
(I read a statement very similar to this--it applied to black people rather than black dogs--just last night in a book entitled How to Rent a Negro.)
Anyway, your girl--dare I say daughter--sure looks cute. How sweet of her loving friend/mom to shake out the rug for her and place it just so. Our own black dog is also a sun worshipper, and will chase where it lands across the floor in order to be in it, no matter how small the spot.
Velvet - I would call her demanding!
Snow - Funny but I always tell Mabel to go "tan" and she knows what I mean!
I watched a PBS show last night about crows that you SHOULDN'T let Mabel watch because part of it is about how crows are way, way smarter than dogs, at least at figuring things out. Crows even hold FUNERAL, for goodness sakes.
The boys love to tan. The best is laying on the bed in the morning while I'm getting ready for work in whatever patch of sunlight there is. Heaven!
P.S. Love the Doggie Shades!! A perfect touch!
Great post! Mabel looks content sunning on her rug. Give her a kiss from me!
Snow - too funny!
Rott - Gee, I LOVE that profile pic!
Janet - You got it!
Argos the yellow Lab also loves to "take the sun." On sunny weekend mornings he'll sit by the door until I let him out so he can bask in the warmth. Fortunately, I don't have to slather him with sunblock, like I have to do for myself.
work it, miss mable lou (a.k.a sunshiney princess)!! :)
me 'n asa enjoy a good sun tannin' session as well, either on the deck or in front of the patio door windows if it's a smidge too cold outside.
