Not a Social Girl

It was one of those shindigs where I should know a handful of people. The point of the shindig was something near and dear to my heart. In theory, that should be enough to get me out of the house on a Saturday night.

But 20 minutes before the party began, I was still in a t-shirt, no makeup, working on my rubber stamps website with a hungry dog at my side.  Hmmm... what's up with that?

My evening went like this:

6:10 - Pull out of driveway
6:11 - 1/2 mile away, I cross the street my BFF lives on. I feel tremendous pangs of longing as I see her and Bart approaching. They are going to the creek. My BFF waves her arm in her ever so graceful way, her fingers signing "I love you" as she passes.
6:12 - Another stop sign. It's all I can do to NOT turn around, go get my girl and head to the creek.
6:35 - Find parking near party.
6:37 - Inspect catering truck outside of party (see previous post).
6:40 - Begin mingling
6:54 - Dash for the car
7:14 - Frantically pull into driveway, car horn blaring.
7:18 - Mabel & I arrive at the almost dark creek. We see 'Tilla and his dad in the distance. They join us for a frolic at the shoreline.
7:50 - Home sweet home. I change into a nightie, take off my war paint and curl up with my pup to watch a movie!

All in all, it ended way better than it started!

I'd have made the same choice you did, Holly. Do you think we're missing out on something?

Velvet, the part of me that longs to have had a family of my own makes me feel like something is missing. Like, I'll always be alone if I don't get "out there." But for the most part, I like my weird group of friends at the creek and all our crazy dogs more most people I encounter elsewhere.

I would love for you to elaborate on your discomfort (if that's the right word) around going to the party as it would seem--to me--that there had to be more going on for you than a desire to go to the creek.

Thank you for your comment about my accident prone middle name and I'm glad I am not alone in the accident category!
I tried to become a google friend connect follower but my antivirus spyware would not allow it (pop up warnings) so I am your RSS feed follower instead.
I love your blog and I look forward to reading more about you and your dog. Believe me, I understand why you'd rather be with your dog than to be at a party. Parties are great but a dog's love and happiness is more important!

We understand, Holly :) The hubby and I are private people, and it's all I can do to get him to go to 2 work parties each year! Enjoy the peace and small group fun :)

Sounds like you did a great job putting in the required appearance, while still making time for some real fun and relaxation!
